If you follow interior design then you probably know that High Point Market was just a few weeks ago.

I still got to see (virtually) the new stuff that will be out in a few months!!!
Some of my favorite lines that are available to the trade are…
Arteriors Home
Here is one of their new lamps
Currey and Company Showroom at High Point
Cool  Mirrored Table from Modern History
Le Blanc Design Lamp
I Love Made Goods
Let me know if you see anything here that you would like more info about!

Little Girls are made of Sugar and Spice…but their rooms are not always so sweet and so nice.

April 22, 2014 by Lindsey Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

I am working on (thinking about) the design of my daughter’s room for my next project (at home)!
Even though she is only 4, I have big plans for it to be a BIG GIRL Room. I typically use regular type pieces in my kids rooms because I like to frequently move items around in my house and don’t really want to be limited by “AGE”.  Except for the nursery furniture and bunk beds!!! 🙂
The walls in her room are green and the ceiling is yellow (not my choice) but it has worked okay so far.
A few months back, on a Saturday, I decided to paint aqua stripes on the wall behind her bed-
I wanted to tie that in since she has so many things in aqua.  I am still not happy with the paint colors- but I am just not in the mood to paint right now!!! So, I will plan her room with the idea that we will change the walls and ceiling whenever!  I am actually thinking of using this paper on the wall behind her bed!
The dots are raised with glitter!

To the trade

But…I have a hard time designing my own house- I just can not make up my mind!!!
I want it ALL.  So, if you have been to my house- now you know the reason it’s never finished. 🙂
The brainstorming for Addi’s room has been fun though, I must say- Girls’ rooms are just FUN!
Here are some of my ideas:
We need a queen size bed in there (b/c) we have a queen mattress and a new one is not in the budget!
I like the idea of a Daybed, but queen size daybeds are not that easy to come by.
Here are the one’s I have found, but just can’t commit to………..
We could have something made similar to this custom piece designed by Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler
Here is a similar one from Restoration Hardware
 Only available in 2 colors.
I do like the grey and it would be easy to change the color scheme if we went with this over a color.

Restoration Hardware
Another idea I have is to use a King size headboard and turn the bed sideways.
Much more budget friendly!!!
I really think it will give so much more floor space for her and it will be a nice focal point for the room.
Plus we could use under bed storage.
Pinterest
I love the bed skirt on this one! Perfect for hiding the storage.
designmaze
And the idea of the chairs or a settee at the end of the bed.
I also might have to steal this look… chalkboard paint stripes!
birdsofafeatherdesign
We have moved on from duvet covers- they are way too much trouble!!!
I like quilts because you can machine WASH them!
She chose the lavender and grey Branson quilt from Pottery Barn Kids.
It’s here- so that’s one thing DOWN
She was very specific about that one- so I said fine.
Purple is Hot right now anyway and I love to mix colors- so it will work with whatever we decide to do.
Pottery Barn Kids
I recently started taking a sewing class and the very first thing I made was were 2 of these pillows.
The colors go great in case I decide not to change the paint anytime soon!
I love the idea of doing a book wall similar to this from Lonny Magazine.
lonny
I will most likely use this mirror over the bed (depending on the wall pattern)
b/c I already have it!
These Lamps!!!! LOVE………
there’s the purple again.
To the trade
Well I have a lot of decisions to make!
I’ll post the pics of the room when it’s done (hopefully before she leaves for college)!

Guest Blog on At Home in Arkansas: Organized Offices

April 9, 2014 by Lindsey Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

It’s a few days into April and, while a lot of people are outside playing, I am spending A LOT more time inside at my computer. You guessed it, frantically doing my NOT SO favorite task…..TAXES!!!
So as I sit here going through folders and receipts and statements,
I think Hmmmmm, my office space really could use some HELP!

Is anyone else out there……..

Having an office is a wonderful addition to any home.
Even while on the market, a home office can help sell a house.
If it’s stylish and organized well

More and more people are streamlining their businesses and working from home, so having a functional place to work is a priority for some and even a MUST HAVE for many home buyers today.
Even just a small desk area is okay!

Lots of natural light is a must for productivity

and tons of containers help to keep all of the stuff organized and neatly hidden from view.
Indulgy
If you are like me and like to work in the open. A space that is a part of another room works just fine.
Just be sure to keep it neat- that part not so much like me!
The Style Files
Speaking of neat! How cute is this idea. I am all about multi~use /RE purposed items.

A dining room table is perfect for a large work area.
If you don’t have a dedicated space for an office, turn your dining room into an office!
Built in bookcases are a great addition to any office area.
Another Great Selling point too!

A great way to maximize space, is to turn a small closet into a desk area.

All offices come with an abundance of technology.
Use Binder Clips to help tame all those cords and wires.

A cork wall is a fun addition to any work space

And as always, try to……………….

Sittin Pretty

April 4, 2014 by Lindsey Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

I am working on a project where we are using a settee and it got me looking for the perfect one.
So, naturally I went to Pinterest. Here’s what I found……………
How sweet would this be in a little girls room.
Specifically MY little Girl’s room.
Though it might not look this pretty with her collection of 10 Thousand Scooby Doo stuffed dogs!
Suzanne Kasler
I have always been a fan of the Elton Settee from West Elm. This could even be used as a small sofa.
West Elm
One of the great things about a settee is you can be BOLD!
This blue Ikat fabric is just enough pattern without being overwhelming.
Elle Decor
I keep coming back to this unique piece from Casa Midy.
I LOVE IT!!!
Casa Midy
Below is a settee I used in another project.
It was purchased from Cobblestone and Vine here in Little Rock
and the bird pillows I picked up on clearance at Cynthia East Fabrics.
Some might classify this as a daybed, but I had to include in the post!!!
Lindsey Binz Home
This one from Horchow is a great classic style.
I love the clean lines and nail head trim accenting the shape of the sweep arms

TA DA………
We decided on the Parker Settee from Ballard Designs.
With the right price, high back and comfy seat cushion it fit the criteria for a doctors office waiting room.
It’s not in White though! That would be a disaster waiting to happen!

Top Shelf

When styling shelves that are both functional and eye pleasing,
start by using a few over-sized or large items then…Stack, Lean, Layer & Group!
Emily Henderson’s perfectly styled shelves below have stacked books with items on top,
leaned objects in front, and are layered with a variety of textures and colors.
Emily Henderson
Use books, books and more books both vertically and in horizontal stacks.

James Ransom Photography via Loft & Cottage
Line the backs with a fun color, wallpaper or fabric to add some color or pattern.
I used this bright Ikat fabric in this otherwise white closet to give it some dimension and style.
Lindsey Binz Home

Make it personal with art or photos that you love!
I love using framed art hug on the outside of the shelves.
Little Green Notebook

Edit- Edit- Edit
Take your time and try different options by moving things around.
It’s okay to have a few “rough” drafts when styling shelves.

 Have fun with it!

They don’t have to be perfect. Even messy shelves can be stylish!

Enjoy!

Trendy Tuesday

March 4, 2014 by Lindsey Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

I am seeing arrows everywhere in interiors.
Maybe it’s because of the Hunger Games craze that arrows have recently become a trend in home fashion.

Or… Maybe it’s because they are just so cool!
Either way, I am fine with it!

etsy
I love this throw blanket from Deny Designs- it’s a steal at $59

denydesigns
An easy way to be a part of the arrow trend without being tied down is with self adhesive wall decals.
They are easy to DIY and even easier to remove when you want something new.
etsy
Pillows are an inexpensive way to get some trend with out really making a commitment!
etsy
I love these unique metal wall arrows
These are probably a little pricey, but probably worth it too!
pinterest
Even just a few colorful arrows in a vase or jar can make an impact.
These are readily available on Etsy.
etsy
I love this Serena and Lily shower curtain.
We added white fabric to make it a custom fit for a clients bathroom.
These Jonathan Adler Bookends worked perfect in a recent teen bedroom I had the pleasure of  designing

The Feather rug is another favorite of mine from Serena and Lily.

Will you be Brave and get some Arrows???
If so…….

It’s Monday Mamas

February 24, 2014 by Lindsey Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

The acronym TGIF is not nearly as nice to some as TGIM
Please do not get me wrong.
I do love Friday’s, but there is just something about  Monday morning that makes me want to Say
Weekends tend to be a time of chaos, sometimes, rather than relaxation for many people.
 Especially for us Mamas.
With the whole crew at home, the house is usually always a mess and most of us are doing things for others
(which is not a bad thing)
But sometimes we just need a day to ourselves
So whether you are working at work or working at home-
because let’s face it – we all WORK!!!
Let’s make it a
I like to think of Monday as a day to start Fresh-
to wipe last week- or last month- or even last year off the slate!
Because………………
